Concrete glazings: a current task in conservation!
Many artistic concrete glazings from the 1960s and 1970s, unfortunately, now only look good from a distance.
When examined in detail, cracks are often visible in the concrete, along with damaged sealants, rusty mounts and/or restraints, defects in the reinforcement or corroded frames of individual fields in the concrete glazing.
Following intense examination of the basic substance of the concrete glazing to determine its overall condition, the occurrence of damage and possible structural errors (i.e., missing or insufficient reinforcements), along with the decision for a ""protective glazing"" and/or enhancement of heat insulation, the conservation work can begin.
Of course, the restraint system is de-scaled and (if necessary) any damaged areas retouched, primed and coated.
