Hollfeld, parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt
Description of the entire building
First mentioned 1017; destroyed many times. After the Great Fire of 1724, rebuilt 1778/82. Instead of a central building by Franz Ignaz Michael Neumann, a plan by Johann Joseph Vogel was realised which Neumann had assessed. One of the most impressive buildings in the region. nave of three bays with swung-in wall columns, single-bay choir loft with three-sided conclusion, continuous cruciform vault. On the front-entry tower, a clear classicistic touch; the coat of arms of the principal, the Prince Bishop Adolf Friedrich von Seinsheim, in two niches, figures depicting the diocesan patrons, 1780 by Bernhard Kamm. The arrangement of the exterior structure, certainly. The furnishings were purchased around 1765, and in 1804, this procurement (from the Dominican church in Bamberg) was nearly complete; it remains perceptible that these furnishings were initially created for another space, yet in the original location, one did not reckon with elaborate stucco decoration, which here is completely lacking. – High altar by Bernhard Kamm, a wide, four-column structure. On the tabernacle, sprawling rocailles. The large side altars by Adam Stöhr, the altar leaves by Johann Anwander and Joh. Zick. The small side altars originate from the original churhc furnishings, at approx. 1780. The pulpit: 1769, by Kamm (a piece of paper found in the pulpit crown brings the artistic motif of the envy of Phidias and Polyclete). Baptismal stone, around 1600. The four confessionals: dark, domed structures, outstanding exam, ples of the late Rocaille style.- Stations of the Cross, 2nd half of the 18th century - Anna Selbdritt, around 1500; among the 18th-century figures, the exquisite figures depicting St. Florian and Blasius of Kamm.
